The $S&P/ASX 200 (.XJO.AU)$ rose 0.1 per cent on Friday, tipping a return of 9.7 per cent for the financial year.
The benchmark S&P/ASX 200 was up 8.4 points to 7203.3 at market close when 8 out of the 11 industry sectors recorded gains. The All Ordinaries edged up 11.9 points to 7401.5.
The technology sector was the best performer, up 0.8 per cent. $WiseTech Global Ltd (WTC.AU)$ shares rose 0.6 per cent, $Xero Ltd (XRO.AU)$ added 1.4 cent and $Life360 Inc (360.AU)$ shares jumped 3.8 per cent.
Energy stocks also recorded gains. $Yancoal Australia Ltd (YAL.AU)$ shares rallied 1.8 per cent and $Santos Ltd (STO.AU)$ rose 0.8 per cent and $Viva Energy Group Ltd (VEA.AU)$ added 1 per cent.
$Link Administration Holdings Ltd (LNK.AU)$ shares tumbled 13.9 per cent after the company announced that its contract with HESTA would not be renewed.
$Downer EDI Ltd (DOW.AU)$ shares rallied 4.3 per cent after it sealed a $4.6 billion contract to manufacture trains for the Queensland government.
