Electrify America to adopt Tesla’s Charging Standard

$Tesla(TSLA.US)$ Good news! Volkswagen is reportedly negotiating with Tesla to incorporate the latter's North American Charging Standard (NACS), joining an increasing number of car and charger manufacturers opting for this technology. Ford, General Motors, and ChargePoint are some of the firms that have recently adopted Tesla's charging model.
Volkswagen is currently assessing the viability of using the NACS for its North American clientele. Its electric vehicle charging subsidiary, Electrify America, operates more than 850 charging stations hosting around 4,000 chargers across the U.S. and Canada. During the transition to NACS, the company plans to continue supporting the widely accepted Combined Charging System connector.
In other news, Swedish electric car manufacturer Polestar announced it has struck a deal with Tesla. This agreement will allow Polestar customers in the U.S. and Canada to use Tesla’s extensive Supercharger network.
Tesla’s Superchargers make up around 60% of all fast charging points in the United States as we speak today.
