How Much Will Amazon Make on Prime Day in Face of Stiff Competition From Temu and SHEIN?
$Amazon (AMZN.US)$ is hosting its annual Prime Day from July 11 to July 12. Even though Amazon itself doesn't release official sales numbers for Prime Day, estimates by the e-commerce research experts at Digital Commerce 360 show a meteoric rise in revenue connected to Prime Day that's been hampered.
The chart shows the jump of revenue from 2020 to 2022 is considerably smaller.
Analyst from JPMorgan predict the Prime Day is likely to generate about $5 billion of incremental revenue this year. While that would be up 13% from last year, the pace of growth has slowed steadily each year since a 30% increase in 2020.
The Prime Day shows that e-commerce isn't the driver it once was for the stock, as investor focus shifts to the company's faster-growing and profitable cloud-computing unit AWS.
In the past four years, the stock has fallen in the week of the two-day sale in which the retail giant discounts swathes of items.
There is cause for concern for Amazon's retail business, with a significant number of users choosing to spend their time on rival platforms in 2023 instead.
Americans are awash in bargain deals as the growing rivalry among Temu $PDD Holdings (PDD.US)$ and SHEIN leads to jostling to win the hearts, minds and dollars of US shoppers.
Mooers, will you shop on Prime Day and how much will you spend?

WilliamDaGreat : Ok
Jbu8810 : Idk how ANYONE likes Temu. I downloaded it b/c one of their ads promised like 97% off n then once i opened the app that deal was nowhere to be found n as a "consolation" i was supposed to get a good deal (dont remember how much cuz ive tried to put the stupid experience out of my mind) for actually signing up. Did that n the ONLY THINGS ON SALE OR FOR A DISCOUNT was dollar store type trash. Temu can shove it n DOES NOT DESERVE ANY REVENUE from the online retail market sector. At all. Trash. 33 1/3 thumbs down n a middle finger too
难以忘怀的夏季 : Temu have good service, Amazon have very good quality products
Steven J : Before you go ahead and purchase an item on Amazon , check on Temu, that same item may be there for half of the price. Temu have great deals overall.
ju5tchi11in : consuming extremely cheap environmentally unsustainable one time use products is really hurting us.
