AU Evening Wrap: ASX Rises on Easing Inflation, Kogan Jumps 10%

Shares swung higher on Wednesday after June quarter inflation data showed signs of easing and boosted hopes the Reserve Bank may end its interest rate increase cycle.
The $S&P/ASX 200 (.XJO.AU)$ added 0.85 per cent to a five-month high, with the materials sector the best performer up 1.8 per cent. The financials sector gained 1.1 per cent.
The best performing stock in the S&P/ASX 200 was $Beach Energy Ltd (BPT.AU)$, which gained 6.9 per cent.
While $Corporate Travel Management Ltd (CTD.AU)$ gained 0.9 per cent on a trading update and $Mineral Resources Ltd (MIN.AU)$ gained 4.1 per cent on its own operating update.
$Kogan.com Ltd (KGN.AU)$ shares also jumped 10 per cent after its trading and sales forecast for financial 2024 impressed the market.
Tonight the US Federal Reserve is due to hand down its interest rate decision, with traders certain it will move to lift rates 0.25 per cent to between 5.25 per cent and 5.50 per cent.
