Summary of Investment and Financial Learning in 2023
In January 2023, officially started the journey of investing in US stocks. In early 2023, set a goal to create a profit of 100K CNY (20k SGD, 14k USD) through investing in top stocks and RSP index funds for oneself.
Actual Profit:
From December 31, 2022, to December 31, 2023, the principal investment in stocks was 38,635 USD, with a total profit of 10,782 USD (14.2K SGD; 76.3K CNY), with a profit rate of 27.9%. Half of the profit came from MSFT (6,773 USD).
Things I didn't do well:
1) Buying Xiaomi in the Hong Kong stock market resulted in a loss of 447.5 USD. Fortunately, I cleared it in time and switched to US stocks.
2) At the end of November, upon hearing the news of Xi Jinping's visit to the US and China's government purchasing Boeing planes, I immediately invested in Boeing stocks at a low price. Simultaneously, upon hearing the news of Tesla launching a new car, I promptly invested in Tesla at a low price. However, due to fear arising from a friend's sharing of the 'Stock God's' advice, I immediately sold them, resulting in me earning nearly 1K USD less.
3) Did not stick to the personal plan of RSP in QQQ and VOO. The reason is that having been trapped by investing in China's csi 300 index and csi 500 index before, I felt a sense of fear like the wolf was coming, so I dared not invest easily and wanted to observe for a while. As of now, the investment returns of QQQ and VOO are 14.71% and 18.71% respectively.
