2024 Half Year Recap - Both Gain and Pain

Hello fellow Mooers,

I am OkaNeMooCHI, like most of the majority, my goal of doing investment is to start earning extra from the equity market but the fact is it is not an easy task and it takes a lot of patience, learning, studying and some extra luck to eventually see some real money.

Straight to the point, I joined MooMoo on March 2024 and it has been almost 4 months now. My YTD Return is 17.41% and performed way better than 3 indexes yet my earning is diminishing MoM as you can see from the subsequent charts.

The month of April is my best month thus far for the year 2024. A 10.28% yield is a great number for me to keep myself motivated.

Then comes the month of May, starting to lose the steam and going downwards.

The month of June. I have been losing significantly due to my foolish mistake of not taking profit in time.

The learning so far, timing is everything. The positions I am holding is fundamentally good but I had missed the window of profit taking hence the most rational thing to do is to cut lost to prevent further bleeding to my overall asset. To endure the pain feels bad but this is life. C'est la vie.

After gaining back my partial fund, I had finally made up my mind to shift some of it to the US market. That's right, at first I am so reluctant to move into an unfamiliar yet interseting territory but everything has to start some where and this is my little step forward to learn and earn.

Another two more trading days will marked the end of June. It will be a miracle to see green for this month but I have high hope for the month of July/August as most of the company will be disclosing their quarterly earning and make dividend annoucement that may help boosting the stock price higher. Finger crossed.
