2024: My Best Year in 8 Years of Trading, Breaking Triple-Digit Returns for the First Time
Here’s a concise summary of my real takeaways from trading in 2024:
1. Best Decisions of the Year:
Reflecting on this year, my best move was participating in the data center-related stocks in Malaysia during the first half. Later, I shifted my focus entirely to US markets in the second half, transferring all my funds there. While I did give back some profits along the way, this remains my most satisfying decision of the year.
2. Lessons from 2020:
Learning from the mistakes of 2020, I focused on trends and themes. Revisiting and analyzing the big winners of 2020 multiple times gave me more confidence in my 2024 trades. One quote from William O’Neil deeply resonates with me:
“By understanding the characteristics of past successful stocks, you can better identify future winners.”
3. Focus:
Not just focusing on market feedback but also focusing on portfolio allocation. Spreading your funds across 20 stocks makes it difficult to achieve outstanding performance.
4. Oliver Kell’s Insights:
During an exclusive session with Oliver Kell, he mentioned his impressive 200% return in 2024, yet he was still disappointed in himself for missing big winners like $GE Vernova (GEV.US)$ , $Applovin (APP.US)$ , and $Palantir (PLTR.US)$ . While I’m grateful for my returns, I know there’s still room to grow. My main goal this year is to refine my risk management and sharpen my timing for averaging up.
