A large-scale IT failure has occurred in Australia, hitting banks, media, and telecommunications

Large-scale IT failures have occurred in Australia, causing problems with banks, supermarkets, telecommunications carriers, media, airlines, etc.
Australia's national cybersecurity coordinator announced on Friday that “we are aware of a large-scale technical failure affecting many businesses and services across Australia this afternoon.”
“According to our current information, the failure is related to technical issues with third-party software platforms employed by the affected companies.
“There is no information to suggest this is a cybersecurity incident. We continue to engage our key stakeholders.
IT security company Cloud Strike said in a recorded phone message that it was aware of reports that Microsoft's Windows OS had crashed.
Photos posted on social media showed how the flight information screen at Sydney Airport was completely white and how the self-service cash registers of the supermarket chains Woolworth and Coles were inoperable.
Sydney Airport said flights have arrived and departed, but travelers said delays are expected.
“We have activated emergency response measures and increased the number of staff at the terminal,” he said in a post to X.
Melbourne Airport said several airline check-in procedures have been affected.
“Passengers flying with these airlines this afternoon should have a little extra time to check in. Please check with your airline for the latest flight information.
