The Japan Department Store Association announced that from January to July, the total sales of duty-free goods by national department stores to visiting Japanese tourists reached 397.8 billion yen (approximately RMB 19.5 billion), exceeding the 348.4 billion yen accumulated in the previous year, setting a new record for annual sales. In July, the duty-free sales for the month reached 63.3 billion yen, about twice the amount of the same period last year. High-priced items such as jewelry and cosmetics are selling well. It is reported that there are more customers from China and South Korea, among other Asian countries.
