Palantir Technologies, a US software development company, Dell Technologies, a personal computer (PC) manufacturer, and Illi Indemnity, an insurance company, will be added to the constituents of the S&P 500 stock price index, according to S&P Dow Jones Indices on the 6th.
According to the announcement, in exchange for the adoption of the three companies, American Airlines Group, Etsy, and Bio-Rad Laboratories will be excluded. The changes are scheduled to be implemented before the start of trading on September 23.
The addition of Palantir and Dell reflects the situation where technology companies, especially artificial intelligence (AI) related companies, are reshaping the stock market.
