AI boom is undeniably an opportunity for companies like Nvidia, AMD and Microsoft.
But it is also quite evident that over the last few weeks, Apple and Google have been quite unloved in the latest AI rally.
It has been a while since Apple innovated or came out with something fantastic. Their Vision Pro hasn’t been lifting off, at least for now. At the same time, we don’t see lots of AI plays in their business - both products and services. Recently, they have also pulled the plug on Apple cars.
As for Google, they have been a little late in entering the AI field - late in introducing Bard to rival ChatGPT, late in introducing Gemini to rival other generative AI platforms. To make things worse, they had 2 rounds of bloopers for both of these platforms. Rushed products? Probably. They haven’t felt so threatened for years ever since they dominated the search engine field.
We are the start of the AI Transformation era. So if you don’t innovate with AI, you will lose out. It’s very dangerous to be too comfortable with what you have.
In the next couple of years, we may see a repeat of “Kodak” and “BlackBerry”. Old giants will fall, and new ones will rise.
Shootingstar : What other innovations for ai? It appears to have reached maxed applicability and is abit stagnant to keep on rising
Cow Moo-ney OP Shootingstar : I wish I knew what other innovations there are, then I’ll be super rich haha. Decades ago, most wouldn’t believe in autonomous driving, machine learning, robotics etc.
Likewise, pretty sure there will be things coming up in future which we wouldn’t be able to foresee at this current point.
Northsea9 : Conversely, the problem with AI is insufficient production capacity and model lag! Simply put, it's the calculation results of Nvidia's model where the total number of chips is too small! So the bubble problem is still too early! Currently, the core problem is that AI software and hardware servers are being built at an accelerated pace, and the corresponding robot industry is also gaining strength, but it requires huge investment! This is an interconnected industry. AI intelligence corresponds to AI cloud services, then to AI robots, and to the lunar landing and robotic space industries. The most important thing in the entire development process is the level of development of Nvidia chips. Nvidia determines the progress of the entire process!
xiaoswee : sustainable energy should be next wave, all the computing power needs to be on efficient and sustainable power source. Chip manufacturing demand will intensify, not necessarily nvidia will be the major player 4ever. Nvidia sustained growth will depend on how well it is able to make use of its leading position to innovate and build an ecosystem like Apple. GPU might be obsolete if ai models advanced further, so jus plainly selling gpu is not sustainable way to grow
