Airlines cancel flights at Lebanese airport amid tension between Israel and Hezbollah

Lebanon's Middle East Airlines (MEA) says that amid heightened tension between Israel and the armed political organization Hezbollah, schedule confusion is related to insurance risks, and flights at Beirut Airport have been cancelled or delayed.
Lufthansa German Airlines announced on Monday that 5 routes departing from and arriving at Beirut by Swiss International Airlines, Eurowings, and Lufthansa, which are group airlines, have been suspended “with caution” until 7/30.
The rocket attack that killed 12 teenagers and children in the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights on Saturday has spurred fears that a group backed by Israel and Iran could enter an all-out war.
Israel's security cabinet on Sunday approved that the government would respond to the attack.
Hezbollah has denied any responsibility for the deadliest attack in Israel and the territories adjacent to Israel since the outbreak of the war in Gaza due to the Hamas attack on October 7 and then spread to several fronts.
Turkish Airlines also cancelled 2 flights on Sunday night, according to Beirut Airport's flight information board and flight tracking site Flightradar24.
Low-cost airline Sunexpress based in Turkey, Turkish Airlines' subsidiary AJet, Greek airlines Aegean Airlines, Ethiopian Airlines, and MEA have also cancelled flights scheduled to land in Beirut on Monday, Flightradar24 reports.
The airlines asked for comment, but there was no immediate response.
Beirut Rafic Hariri International Airport is the only airport in Lebanon.
The airport has been targeted in the country's civil war and past battles with Israel, including the 2006 war between Hezbollah and Israel.
