I want to share my thoughts about something that I often hear recently. What do you all think?
It's often said that "this year's market was good" or "it was just luck" as if making money easily, but then why didn't that person invest knowing that it would rise?
Just investing involves high enough risk, and those who tolerate high risks, aren't they just receiving the rewards? I firmly believe that making money easily is out of the question.
Many people say "I don't have money to invest", but isn't it just an excuse and lack of courage to invest?
Many people say 'If the stock price falls, assets will decrease', but I wonder if the company they work for is really that stable?
Isn't it naive to think that stable salaries will be paid forever?
I believe that the possibility of management decline in companies like GAFAM is much higher than the possibility of the company I work for declining.

Actually, it's undeniable that it was lucky to have a good market not profitable in a bad market . As a result of taking moderate risks, the prediction that this year would be a good market came true, and I think it's good to have made a profit luckily. American stocks from 1997 to 2010 are sideways just like Japanese stocks

That's correct indeed. I recognize that the market trends since 2010 have skyrocketed thanks to the rapid growth of GAFAM, as if using a cheat code. In the future market, I am very excited to see whether the Magnificent 7 will continue to lead the market, or if it will rise due to the emergence of the next generation of GAFAM. I believe that companies that master AI to make huge profits will definitely emerge.

This year, the Japanese stock market was a challenging year with volatile fluctuations, wasn't it? While American stocks like the Dow, Nasdaq, and S&P have shown an upward trend in the past year, some people may not have been able to profit due to timing. It's really difficult to know when to sell, even though taking profits is important. First of all, those who hesitate to take the first step are the least likely to succeed. With the introduction of the new NISA system this year, many people have started investing in funds and individual stocks. Those who bought Orkan in January have seen a return of about 10%. For those who do nothing, they may not realize that the rising prices are actually reducing the value of their money. Japan has struggled to break free from the deflationary spiral during the lost decades, and it has finally entered a world with inflation and interest rates. For Japanese who have lived in a deflationary world for so long, unless they change their mindset, their asset value could decline significantly in 10 years. The compounding effect of investing in funds is amazing when you simulate it. Individual stocks carry high risks but also offer high returns. While investing in funds also entails risks, if you regularly invest in Orkan or indexes linked to the S&P 500 for the long term, you could expect an annual return of about 8%. It is a fact that there are years with losses in the short term, but holding for the long term will always bring gains. As the OP has unrealized gains, they have taken a step forward, made good stock choices, and opting for American stocks was probably the right decision. In short, those who cannot manage risks and take that first step forward might end up regretting it.

to-go : There's nothing like easy money.
Right?
Even stocks require studying
and determination.
It can be quite stressful.
Even in a bad market,
there are companies that grow,
so it means we'll be fine next year.
