$Alphabet-C(GOOG.US)$ perplexity is superior to Google from a search feature the problem is Google has the name and branded it's just like you want that thing that you blow your nose in you say give me a Kleenex you're at a restaurant you say give me a Coke they have branded the name and trying to change the name that people use when they're going about their daily lives is impossible so when someone says you're going to do a search you do a Google you don't do a llama you don't do a perplexity even though perplexity is superior Google has the name in branded and everybody's mind and actions

  • ChartTrader : cuz ppl advertise on google and Facebook return highest ROI

  • 10baggerbamm OP ChartTrader : that's correct but what they're talking about with the new chat feature from openai is it'll be embedded into chat. but I mean we've seen this so many times where everybody's got a better search feature than Google and again I believe perplexity is vastly superior but if you ask a hundred people do you use perplexity you're probably going to get if you get four or five I think that's all you're going to get if you ask a young demographic it might be 20% have heard of it and 10% use it so you have this huge barrier to entry that you've got to penetrate the minds of people because Google is embedded into everybody's mind that you want to do a search you Google it when you want something to drink that's a soft drink you say give me a Coke and when you want to blow your nose you say give me a tissue a Kleenex and once you get that name recognition it's virtually impossible to penetrate people don't walk in saying give me a Pepsi to go give me a Coke and then the waiter says oh well we have Pepsi would you like that. so will open AI take revenue away maybe down the road but how far into the future do you want to discount Google right now

  • MomentumPython1337 : we already had a taste of that with Microsoft's Bing  trying to introduce AI (which I believe is openAI's models since they're partners) but look where that has gone. Google still retains dominant market share and mindshare among users. let's not forget that google is also integrating AI into their search. i believe it will be the same with searchGPT, it's a cool new fad but it won't scratch the market share that Google search has.

  • 10baggerbamm OP MomentumPython1337 : if this was a month ago it would have been lost in the headlines but because right now you have this transition trade into broader markets it's shoot first and ask questions later and it's getting marked down accordingly at some point I'm going to buy it I don't own it I'm going to buy it and I'm just going to tuck it and put it away
