AMD acquires European AI development company - to compete with NVIDIA

American semiconductor manufacturer Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) has agreed to acquire silo AI in cash of 665 million dollars (about 107 billion yen). There is an aim to close the gap with NVIDIA in the artificial intelligence (AI) field.
Silo AI is an AI development company based in Helsinki, Finland. According to the announcement on the 10th, customers include Allianz, Unilever, etc. Peter Sahlin, co-founder and CEO, will continue to lead the team and become part of the AI division at AMD.
AMD is seen as the closest potential competitor to NVIDIA in the semiconductor market used to develop new software and services using AI.
AMD shares rose 3.9% in the stock market on the 10th.
