AMD CEO Su Zifeng sells shares for over $20 million in cash

Zifeng Su recently sold more than $20 million worth of the company's stock, a move that one expert believes is a departure from her past behavior but that AMD says is not unusual. A filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on Friday showed that Su sold 125,000 shares of AMD stock on Feb. 21 at prices ranging from $162.06 to $164.84, according to the company.

While Su Zifeng has sold AMD stock in other recent periods, those transactions involved options that expire in two years.Ben Silverman, vice president of research at VerityData, said in a recent report that Su Zifeng's most recent move is different than previous ones because it's the first time she's dumped non-stock-option shares since 2019.

An AMD spokeswoman said the recent sale "remains part of Suzie Fung's 10b5 plan, and she still owns a significant amount of shares following the transaction."

Following the recent transaction, Su still owns about 4 million AMD shares through direct and indirect holdings. At Tuesday's closing price of $178, those shares are worth about $712 million. $Advanced Micro Devices (AMD.US)$
