AMD / Intel CPU Marketshare

$Advanced Micro Devices (AMD.US)$For those who want to invest in AMD for long term, this is for your info. AMD takes market share from Intel in server, desktop, and notebooks — new Mercury Research data shows Q4 2023 data | Tom's Hardware (tomshardware.com). For those investing in Intel, the CPU segments really does not look good. Worse still, it does not seem to have a strong product roadmap to compete well with AMD. This will be bad for consumers and businesses as well as it is never good for any one company to have a monopoly.

  • digimonX : I thought I have read Intel gaining some market share on the server segment. Amd is gaining share on PC & notebook segments against Intel. Anyway, I stand corrected.

These companies are playing games against one another. I suspect some of Intel's server gains are due to rapid nVidia AI deployments. nVidia chose Intel server cpus because (I think) they wanna limit Amd's progress. Intel on the other hand is buying capacity at TMSC (although it has its own Fabs) because they wanna limit capacities allocated AMD & nVidia.
