AMD's next-generation chips will use TSMC's 3nm and Samsung's 4nm processes

According to media sources, AMD's next-generation chip core architecture Zen 5C code name or will be "Prometheus", the chip is expected to use Samsung 4nm and TSMC 3nm process node.

The report said, statistics LinkedIn on a large number of employee profiles and responsible for the project found that AMD's next-generation processor IP used in the process technology, including TSMC N3 process and Samsung 4nm process. Up to now, AMD has been relying on TSMC for production.

Previous reports have said that AMD may transfer part of its production to Samsung and utilize its 4nm process technology, but the exact size of the deal is not yet clear. The latest news says that AMD may use the Samsung foundry for testing or certain I/O chips, but current reports suggest that AMD is unlikely to produce any major IP on Samsung 4nm.

On top of that, the leak also mentions a brand new codename - Prometheus. previous information indicated that Zen 4 was codenamed Persephone, Zen 5 was Nirvana, and Zen 6 was Morpheus. it is understood that the Zen 4C core is codenamed Dionysus, so it's highly likely that the Zen 5C core is codenamed Prometheus.

The AMD Zen 5 and Zen 5C core architectures are said to be major products for 2024-2025, and they will power a range of devices including Strix Point (Ryzen laptops), Granite Ridge (Ryzen desktops) and Turin (EPYC servers). $Advanced Micro Devices (AMD.US)$
