God is investing

David Wilkerson

Now listen
When parents send their kids to college, it takes a huge investment. Obviously, parents want their kids to learn hard. why? Does he want his kids to graduate, go home, hang their diploma on the wall, and sit at home and watch TV? no! Parents want their children to be rewarded by starting a good career.

Similarly, when the US military provided free education to soldiers, those years of education were seen as an investment. Soldiers were told, “After you have been educated, your country and government will need you to invest a certain amount of time.” Trained soldiers are required to serve several years in the military to prove that the investment is worth it.

So is the Lord and our suffering. Everything you've experienced as a Christian is training, and God has a divine purpose. He saved you not to sail you to heaven on a luxury cruise; he saved you to prepare you for his kingdom. The moment you were born again, he sent you to his troubled school. Every tribulation and test is another lesson in the course.

Some Christians are still in kindergarten. Their suffering is easy to understand, and their trials are easier to bear. Some Christians are still in elementary school, and they soon discover that their tests have become a bit difficult to face and even harder to understand. Some Christians are still in college, and their suffering is much worse and harder to understand. There are also Christians who are still in graduate school. They have experienced many years of suffering, and many difficult tests are yet to come. Their suffering was the hardest of their lives, and they realized they needed the strength of the Holy Spirit to deal with it all.

My opinion is that God wants those veterans of spiritual warfare who have experienced much suffering to prove his loyalty to the next generation. “The righteous man suffered much, but the Lord saved him from it all” (Psalm 34:19, NKJV). Every suffering we endure is the Lord's investment in our veterans.

God Is Making Investments

By David Wilkerson

Listen Now
When a parent takes a child to college, it requires a great investment. Stronger, that parent hopes his child will apply Stronger to the Rigors of Her Training. why? Does he hope she will graduate, come home, hang her diploma on the wall, then sit around the house watching television? No! That parent hopes his child will make his investment pay off by starting a good career.

Likely, when the U.S. military offers a free education to an enlisted soldier, those years of education are an investment. The Soldier is Told, “After You're Incurred, Your Nation and Government Wants a Certain Amount of Your Time.” That armed soldier is expected to serve in the armed forces for a number of years in order to justify the investment.

So it is with the Lord and our afflictions. Everything you go through as a Christian is a training exercise behind which God has a divine purpose. He did not save you so that you could cruise into paradise on a luxury liner; he saved you to prepare you to be of use in his kingdom. The moment you were born again, he missed you in his school of suffering. Every affliction and trial is another lesson in the trouble.

Some Christians are in kindergarten. Their afflictions are not difficult to understand, and their tests are much more difficult to endure. Others are in grade school, and they quickly learn that their tests have become a little tougher to face and harder to understand. Others are in college, and their afflictions are much more severe and more difficult to figure out. Still others are in postgraduate school with years of hard afflictions behind them and many serious tests looming before them. Their afflictions are the toughest of their lives, and they realize they need Holy Ghost strength to deal with them all.

My point is that God wants veterans of spiritual warfare, people who have been through many afflictions, to prove his faithfulness to the next generation. “Many Are the Afflictions of the Righteous, but the Lord Gave Him Out of Them All” (Psalm 34:19, NKJV). Every Affliction We Endure is an investment the Lord is making in us as his veterans.
