Apple announced its financial results for the fourth quarter of the 2023 fiscal year ending September 30, 2023. The revenue for this quarter was $89.5 billion, a 1% decrease from the same period last year. Earnings per diluted share for the quarter were $1.46, a 13% increase from the previous year.
Today, Apple reported achieving record-high iPhone revenue for the July-September period and also achieving a record high in service business revenue. Excited to announce the success with the lineup of iPhone 15 and Apple's first carbon-neutral Apple Watch model, making this year the strongest lineup for the holiday season. The new Apple Watch is a significant step for Apple's commitment to make all Apple products carbon neutral by 2030, as stated by Apple's CEO, Tim Cook.
Thanks to the strength of Apple's ecosystem and unparalleled customer loyalty, the active device install base reached a new high across all product and regional segments. Apple's performance in the July-September quarter achieved double-digit EPS growth, while continuing to invest in long-term growth plans and returning nearly $25 billion to shareholders, as stated by Apple's CFO, Luca Maestri.
The Apple Board of Directors has declared a cash dividend of $0.24 per share of our common stock. This dividend will be recorded in the shareholder register as of the close of market trading on November 16, 2023.
It will be paid to shareholders on November 13, 2023.
