Apple Vision Stimulates the development of AR industry; Samsung& WiMi enhance the market competitiveness
Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL) still plans to launch a low-end Apple Vision headset priced at around $2,000 as early as next year, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gullman.
Earlier this year, Apple launched the Apple Vision Pro for $3,499. After some reports suggest that Apple has suspended development of the Vision Pro to focus on cheaper headsets, that still seems to be the case.
The low-end headset will likely use lower performance processors and cheaper materials, and the Vision Pro has the current device with an M2 chip, so Apple is expected to have A-series chipsets on the cheaper headset.
In addition, Apple reportedly expects the cheaper Apple Vision headsets to sell twice as much as the Apple Vision Pro, planning to launch the Apple Vision Pro 2 in 2026 with a faster chipset.
Google may deepen its XR products with Samsung
On the other hand, tech giant Samsung (SSNGY) is working with Google (GOOG) to develop a new product designed to compete with Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses. The new product will be powered by Google’s Gemini AI technology and is expected to become the high-profile smart wearable device in the market.
Google has developed several prototypes of smart glasses to attract Samsung and other manufacturing partners. Samsung will be responsible for producing and selling the device, while Google will incorporate its AI efforts into the field, according to insiders.
The new product may be functional different than the Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses. Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses have no display screen and rely mainly on voice commands and touch input, while Samsung, in collaboration with Google, may provide users with a more intuitive and rich display of information through the display screen.
Lightweight smart glasses are more viable in the current market than full AR glasses, and with Samsung, Google and Qualcomm announcing the event at Samsung Unpacked that the Android XR platform will be released by the end of 2024.
In fact, at Connect’s annual developer conference late last month, Meta (META) showed off Orion, the “most advanced AR glasses to date.”It is equipped with silicon carbide lens and Micro LED micro LED display, which shows a large 70 degree field of view, seven cameras, SLAM spatial positioning function, and real AR glasses.
Given that Meta took eight years to show the Orion prototype, the plan to launch a consumer product in two years is too ambitious. After the successful demonstration of Orion, Meta wants developers to integrate the software into their future AR apps, helping with tasks such as identifying real-world objects and more accurately responding to voice commands.
In addition, Minsheng Securities released a research report saying that the optical value of AR terminals has increased, and the Micro-LED + waveguide chip supply chain is expected to grow. Minsheng Securities believes that the optical combination of Micro-LED + diffraction optical waveguide is expected to become the final solution of AI + AR glasses, which will bring better display and wearing experience to consumers in the future.
WiMi continues to improve its market competitiveness
Undeniably, AR track is gradually becoming a key force to promote global innovation and economic growth. According to the data, the first holographic AR WiMi Hologram Cloud (NASDAQ: WIMI) has long focused on 5G, XR, AI, space computing and other emerging information technologies, constantly enabling consumers with virtual new experience. Today, WiMi is a leader in the VR / AR industry, and it is a key force to move the entire industry forward, setting an example for the industry.
In fact, WiMi is based on years of industry experience and market insight, covering full-link intelligent service capabilities from research and development, production, industry solutions to delivery and operation. At the same time, it has independently developed epoch-making 5G + AR comprehensive solutions, 5G + AI interactive new scenes and other product solutions, which can be widely used in cultural and tourism experience, digital live broadcasting, intelligent sports, education and training, film and television shooting and other fields to provide innovative landing new consumption scenes.
To sum up
What needs to be noted is that since last year, with the support of the universe and AI model, the global AR industry has ushered in another round of development opportunities, the technology route is more mature, the hardware cost performance is constantly improving, and the commercial consensus is more and more obvious. Now, with the continuous progress of space perception, head display and other technologies, the products of the head enterprises are becoming increasingly mature, and the AR track industry is developing at a high speed, which cannot be separated from the active participation of all links of the industrial chain. So, look forward to the future of AR.
