Microsoft has been using x86 CPU/GPUs from the past, but they are trying to achieve higher power efficiency and cost reduction by introducing ARM semiconductors designed in-house. MAIA, an ARM GPU, is one of the key initiatives to respond to growing demand for generative AI.

Also, Microsoft recently announced plans to invest approximately 440 billion yen in the Japanese business, expand data centers in Tokyo and Osaka, and introduce the latest GPUs such as MaiA.
