AU Morning Wrap: ASX Rises; WiseTech Shares Decline 5%
Wall Street Summary
Wall Street was closed due to Thanksgiving holiday. Futures tied to the Dow Jones rose by 32 points or 0.09 per cent. S&P 500 futures added 0.05 per cent, while Nasdaq 100 futures gained 13 points or 0.08 per cent.
AU Market Watch
The Australian sharemarket edged up at the open on Friday, taking limited direction as US markets are closed for Thanksgiving.
The benchmark $S&P/ASX 200 (.XJO.AU)$ rose 0.1 per cent, or 6.9 points to 7036.1 at the start of trade, led by the energy sector.
Energy stocks were in the green, recovering from Thursday's sell-off. The stocks shrugged off the move lower in the crude oil price as markets awaited next week's OPEC + meeting, which will now be held online rather than in-person, as Angola and Nigeria pressed for higher output quotas.
$Woodside Energy Group Ltd (WDS.AU)$ rallied 1.2 per cent, $Santos Ltd (STO.AU)$ added 1 per cent and $Karoon Energy Ltd (KAR.AU)$ up 1.9 per cent.

$Select Harvests Ltd (SHV.AU)$: Select Harvest dropped 0.9 per cent after net losses deepened to $115 million in fiscal 2023, from $4.8 million a year ago, resulting in the final dividend being scrapped.
$The Star Entertainment Group Ltd (SGR.AU)$: Star Entertainment rose 2 per cent following a six-month extension to operate its Queensland casinos before its 90-day suspension after the Attorney-General approved its remediation plan.
$WiseTech Global Ltd (WTC.AU)$: WiseTech lost 4.7 per cent after it announced that Chairman Andrew Harrison will retire in March 2024 and will be replaced by non-executive director Richard Dammery.

  • 151658457 : Thanks Citi. I’m an old dog but seeing that your new tricks are worth learning… or even it seems to me, just blindly trusting to save trying to think with more grey matter on the outside of my skull than on the inside after many years of rigorous self abusive substance trials and evaluations on an industrial scale have left me….. YOUR A GENIUS AND A GEM…. IF YOU WERE 140 YEARS OLDER ID ASK YOU TO MARRY ME…. cause i don’t care if you’ve got two heads with warts on both noses…. I reckon you’ve found ya niche, your bloody good at it and must therefore be rich enough for love to ride greeds back all the way to “happily ever after, and in such joyful bliss at last united with my soulmate/sugar granny any hideous deformations and disfigurement to be easily forgotten in the warm glow of our mutual love and togetherness with your life savings…. Sorry about mine not being long, saved or even showing any sign of life but if not invested in my own war on drugs I would now fear for the youth left drowning in a sea of beer bongs cigarettes and banana peels.   PS…. I don’t suppose you have a grandma who like me feels a bit frisky when springtime makes a young man’s fancy turn skywards and an old man’s to turn…. Well… greyer.
