On June 22, the Ministry of Commerce announced that Minister Wang Wentao had a video meeting with European Commission Executive Vice-President and Trade Commissioner Valdis Dombrovskis. Both parties agreed to initiate negotiations on the EU's anti-subsidy investigation into Chinese electric vehicles.
The EU also issued a statement on the same day, stating that Dombrovskis and Wang had "a frank and constructive conversation about the EU's anti-subsidy investigation into Chinese electric vehicles" and agreed to engage based on facts and fully respect WTO rules.
