Boeing expects that the number of commercial aircraft in China will more than double in the next 20 years, aiming to become the world's largest aviation travel market. Boeing stated in the 'Commercial Market Outlook' that China will need 8,830 new aircraft for replacement and growth in the next 20 years, including 6,720 narrow-body aircraft such as the 737 Max. This number is an upward revision from Boeing's previous 20-year forecast, where the company had previously estimated China's commercial aircraft demand to be at 8,560 by the end of 2042.
