Biden touts cooling inflation, slams Trump tariffs at press conference
President Joe Biden highlighted the latest inflation report during his press conference, stating, “Inflation is down,” and noting that core inflation is at its lowest in three years. The consumer price index fell 0.1% in June, marking the first monthly decline in over four years.
Biden pointed out that prices for cars, appliances, and airfare are falling, and grocery prices have decreased since the beginning of the year. He vowed to continue working against corporate greed to reduce prices further.
He also criticized former President Trump’s economic policy, particularly the proposed 10% tariff on all U.S. imports, warning it could cost American families an additional $2,500 a year.
This press conference was crucial for Biden amid calls to reconsider his 2024 candidacy following a shaky debate performance last month.
