Binglang Hospital's 4.7 billion bid is rumored to have IHH Sunway participated in the bid
Sources revealed that IHH Healthcare Group $IHH(5225.MY$ and Sunway $SUNWAY(5211.MY$ Its subsidiary, Sunway Healthcare, is participating in Affinity Equity Partners' (AEP) share divestment bid for AEP (Island Hospital) at a price of up to US$1 billion (approximately RM4.7 billion).
Foreign media quoted people familiar with the matter as reporting that this non-binding tender ended on the 11th of this month.
According to another source, private equity institutions — CVC Capital Partners (CVC Capital Partners) and TPG Capital, have also submitted preliminary bid plans.
The news also indicated that the AEP will screen the next round of candidates and is expected to complete the deal before the end of the year.
Currently, AEP and Binglang Hospital have yet to respond to requests for comment.
Meanwhile, IHH Healthcare Group stated that it will not respond to market rumors, but only that it will announce any significant developments to the public.
As for Sunway Healthcare, CVC Capital Partners, and TPG Capital, they also declined to comment.
Established in 1996, Binglang Hospital has 600 beds and more than 80 full-time medical specialists. The hospital provides treatment services to 400,000 patients and performs 15,000 surgeries every year.
As Southeast Asia's population ages and the region becomes more affluent, Southeast Asia's healthcare assets are also favored by investors. Earlier, Mori Nami $SIME(4197.MY$ With Ramsay Healthcare, they sold Ramsay Senami Medical Center for RM5.68 billion.
