BYD enters Peru with launch of 5 NEV models

BYD is expanding to every corner of the globe.
BYD has entered the Peruvian passenger car market as the Chinese new energy vehicle (NEV) maker continues to expand its international presence.
The company recently held a brand launch in Peru and rolled out the BYD Song Pro, Tang, Yuan Up, Seal, and BYD Shark, according to an announcement.
BYD has entered into a strategic partnership with local dealer Motorisa to drive the electrification transition in the Peruvian passenger car market, the NEV maker said.
As the business grows in size, BYD will continue to enrich its product matrix in Peru, it said.
BYD plans to open six to seven stores in Peru in 2025, covering all regions of the country.
"Our mission is clear: to create a greener, more sustainable future for the world," said Audrey Li, vice president of BYD America & regional managing director of BYD Latin America.
Peru, a nation brimming with potential, presents BYD with tremendous opportunities and inspires it to turn its vision into reality, Li said.
In the Americas, BYD is building a production complex in Brazil and plans to do the same in Mexico.
In addition to Brazil and Mexico, BYD's presence in the Americas has extended to Chile, Suriname, Costa Rica, Panama, and Guatemala.
In Jul, Peru's foreign minister, Javier González-Olaechea, said that BYD could potentially build an assembly plant in Peru, just as it has done in two other countries in Latin America, Mexico and Brazil, according to Peruvian state news agency Andina.
BYD sold 506,804 NEVs in Nov, the second time it has exceeded the 500,000 mark and the sixth consecutive month of record sales.
That's up 67.87% from 301,903 a year ago and up 0.8% from 502,657 in Oct.
In Nov, BYD sold 30,977 vehicles in overseas markets, up 1.14% year-on-year but 0.69% lower than in Oct.
In the Jan-Nov period, BYD sold 3,757,336 NEVs, up 40.02% year-on-year. It sold 360,050 units overseas during the period, up 74.21% year-on-year.
