Following TikTok Shop's merger with Indonesian rival Tokopedia in January, Bloomberg quoted sources as saying that the Indonesian e-commerce department of ByteDance, TikTok's parent company, will unroll its first round of layoffs, involving about 450 jobs.
It is reported that the job cut will begin this month at the earliest, and the number of employees involved is equivalent to about 9% of the total number of employees in the department, including the e-commerce team staff in advertising and operations, so as to reduce duplicate functions.
