Can a cold winter turn sales around?

$KMD Brands Ltd(KMD.AU)$ is a brand I associate heavily with quality and also good value. However when competition such as Macpac enters the competition it is obvious why KMD isn't performing well. KMD lacks the effective marking that Macpac has.
Despite this I feel like Katmandu can have a comeback relatively soon. Although a traditionally Kiwi and Australian brand if KMD where to focus on advertising to the North American and European audiences it maybe capable of regaining some momentum.
The problem with KMD is they have an identity crisis. Katmandu isn't infact associated with quality (like Mont for example) and it can't compete on price (like Macpac and Anaconda can). KMD needs to find where it stands. It needs more people to review there products. If they can't win on price or quality why not make a brand that listens heavily to customers feedback and gets those "1%ers" right. If KMD want to sell jackets then add those extra internal pockets or that different colours variation. Make the brand actually stand out.
Rip curl (another brand owned by KMD) has also had poor sales performance ever since their failed marketing/diversity stunt. I feel like Rip curl needs to get back to the basics. like how bike shops host shoprides. Ripcurl needs to get back into the culture without spending lots of money. A good way to do this would be to support your existing surf community buy running a campaign to get the best barrel, skateboard trick, beach sunset (whilst wearing a ripcurl wetsuit, hat or other clothing.) Get the consumers to love the brand again by maintaining a sociable relationship with the actual buyers and not politics.
