Can New Funding Round Help OpenAI Increase Its Customer In Other Regions?

But I am more interested to know whether this new funding round can increase the market share for OpenAI in the AI space. Currently OpenAI is not at the top in terms of market share.

The top three of OpenAI’s competitors in the Artificial Intelligence category are Optimole with 28.06%, Drift with 23.53%, OpenAI ChatGPT with 11.05% market share.

What we need to consider is also the number of domains that competitors like Optimole and Drift holds, as we know the AI space is very dynamic and new incumbents are coming out fast and better as well.

If we looked the amount of customer that OpenAI has at 10,437, it is much lower than its competitors, this mean that OpenAI might not have penetrated into certain market and industries.

So what can this new funding round help for OpenAI? It should be more than that just increasing the valuation of OpenAI?

Optimole competes with other products in the categories. It has a 28.06% market share in the Artificial Intelligence category, and Optimole has 16,435 customers in 10 countries.

OpenAI lost of customers over the month is a concern even though there is an increase of new than the one lost, OpenAI need to find ways to retain their customers in order to sustain and improve their market share.

Comparing Optimole and OpenAI customers based on their geographic location, we can see that Optimole has more customers in United States, United Kingdom and Canada, while OpenAI has more customers in United States.

From the chart below, we could see that Optimole has more customers in United Kingdom and Canada, whereas OpenAI customer base is mainly concentrating in the United States.

So I am hoping that the new funding round would assist OpenAI to open up their customer base into United Kingdom and Canada.

Drift competes with other products in the Artificial Intelligence, Account Based Marketing, Appointments And Scheduling, Instant Messaging And Chat, Lead Capture, Lead Generation, Lead Management, Live Chat, Marketing Automation Platforms, Mobile Marketing categories. It has a 23.53% market share in the Artificial Intelligence category, and Drift has 13,783 customers in 10 countries.

Considering that Drift is losing more customers than the newly acquired one, OpenAI looks to be in a better position to overtake this number 2 competitors, but OpenAi should work on losing less customer and acquire more customer.

Hopefully with the new funding round, we could see OpenAI acquiring new customer to boost its market share.

Similar to Optimole, OpenAI lose out in terms of customers in the United Kingdom and Canada, hopefully the new funding round would help OpenAI to expand into United Kingdom and Canada and hence could help to increase its market share.

Where companies welcome new funding round but we need to understand that we should look beyond a company increased valuation because of new funding round. What the company hope to achieve, it can be in terms of technology advancement or capturing more market share.

I am looking forward to see OpenAI plan for the new funding round, considering that Google Hugging Face and Google AI is also in the run for market share.
