Canadian Dividend Investing - ETFs
Hi guys, dividend ETFs like $VANGUARD FTSE CDN HIGH DIVID YIELD TRUST UNIT(VDY.CA$ or $ISHARES S&P/TSX COMPOSITE HIGH DIV UNITS(XEI.CA$ are popular among many Canadian investors. I am trying to understand how dividends work. For example, the current share price of $VDY is $44.71 and it has a 12 month yield of 4.57%.
So let’s say I buy 100 shares of $VDY at $44.71, meaning $4471 invested in total. Since this etf has a monthly dividend payout, would it be $4471 * (4.57%)/12 months = $4471 * 0.0038= $17.03 in dividends that I’d receive each month? $ISHARES S&P/TSX 60 INDEX ETF UNIT(XIU.CA$
