OptionDan : One date to note is the Registration Date or Record Date. Usually is one day after ex-date. For C38U is 2 days after ex-date. Ex-date 8 Aug, Registration Date 10 Aug. If sold after 10 Aug, you will get the dividend.
angiegoh OP OptionDan : thanks!
102711703 OptionDan : Means 11th August then can sell and still get dividends
snoopy123 : if the ex-date is 8-Aug, means if you were to buy/hold the shares before 8-Aug you will be entitled to the dividends.. and, you can sell anytime on (or after) 8-Aug and still be entitled to the dividends.. but, the person who buys the shares from you on 8-Aug will not be entitled to the dividends.. The ex-dividend date of a stock is the day on which the stock begins trading without the subsequent dividend value. Investors who purchased the stock __before__ the ex-dividend date are entitled to the next dividend payment while those who purchased the stock on the ex-dividend date, or after, are not.
