An industry body has given its predictions for China's electric vertical takeoff and landing(eVTOL) industry, as thelow-altitude economybecomes a widely discussed topic this year.

By2030, China could have100,000 eVTOLsin households or as air cabs, the China Low Altitude Economic Alliance said in a report released today at the inauguralGlobal Low Altitude Economy Forumannual conference.
In abouttwo to three years, air traffic networks and ground flight service facilities in China's major cities will be largely completed and eVTOLs will becommercialized in large quantities, the report said.
Theprice of eVTOLswillgradually decreasefrom the RMB 10 million (USD1.4 million) level, and the price of afour- or five-seat eVTOLis expected to be in theRMB 2 million to RMB 3 millionrange by 2030, according to the report.
As new technologies, including artificial intelligence and human-machine interaction, improve and mature, unmanned technologieswill be widely used on aerial vehicles, the report said.
Unmanned aircraft will be everywhere in the future, becoming a major tool forlogistics, agriculture and forestry, emergency rescue, urban management, power patrol, and traveling and tourism, according to the report.
China is already witnessing agolden decade of opportunity for the low-altitude economy, an economic business unique to developing countries and an important part of China's three-dimensional transportation, said Luo Jun, executive director of the China Low Altitude Economic Alliance.
By2030, the size ofChina's low-altitude economy will exceed RMB 3 trillion, with the drone industry alone expected to first exceed RMB 1 trillion, Luo said.
Next, China's low-altitude economy model can be expected to advance in other developing countries, he said.
The China Low Altitude Economic Alliance was founded on Aug 3, 2024 in Beijing by more than 100 companies and research institutes, including Ehang, Autoflight, and Geely's Aerofugia Technology.
As China has gradually relaxed its control over low-altitude airspace over the past few years, eVTOL has begun to grow rapidly.
The only publicly traded company in the field isEhang, whichhas delivered nearly 300EH216-S eVTOLs.
Earlier this month, Ehang announced the completion of the first flight test of aneVTOL powered by solid-state batteries, paving the way for the use of next-generation batteries in small aircraft.

:
Very bullish on the eVTOL track, china has a complete supply chain, as well as the BeiDou system, combined with china's own geographical features (many mountains and hills, lakes), in the next three years, eVTOL will definitely produce a "BYD" level giant.
Xpeng would have much more potential then Ehang. If you check EHang’s videos, they still manually assemble their products. Xpeng on the other hand already has expertise/experience in manufacture automation in large scale. Xpeng also has more experience in AI. Its eVTOL even has parachute which makes it safer. You can see it from one of their recent test videos.
In general, the competition will be intense in this field within the Chinese market (similar to EV). China has more than one Joby and Archers companies from both private and government sectors(if you search eVTOL companies and products from China). Not to mention DJI, if they ever decide to join the game.

The domestic economy is seriously declining. Even with the government subsidizing ticket prices, how big is the market cake for low-altitude economy? The government is willing, but the people are powerless. Factors such as the opening of routes, ticket prices, battery storage, passenger quality, weather, rescue, etc. Personally, I think the economic value of low-altitude economy is unclear at present, but it is definitely a developing trend. It is advisable to open a position near 11-12 for EH investments at low levels, just to support domestic conscientious companies.

bullrider_21 OP JimLuo : Ehang is the leader in China now.
Wave_Rider bullrider_21 OP : I wouldn’t consider it a leader yet.
