Comparing apple to apple

Looking at Cold Storage, NTUC, Sheng Siong and Giant they are all BIG supermarket players. All these supermarkets are premium ones. However, buying things from these supermarkets, I feel that making payments, at Sheng Siong and NTUC are efficient and effective in collecting the right amount for things people buy like baskets and scanned items are separated. Evert items are weighed for security purpose. Workers are readily there to assist if payment issues arised. Security are inserted with cameras.

In cold storage and Giant, their payment machines and their software "maybe" good, but backend administration like preparation items and updates prices, they are not doing effectively from my observation. Items are not updated in the system, prices are not showing correctly, etc. The major of all, the workforce in these 2 supermarkets, the management and workers not deligent enough to see problem to their payment kiosks. As payment kiosks, related to it's software or information updates are not effectively maintained and not well managed. Maybe this is the main cause of the decline in their revenue in this area. Supermarket should be a very profitable business. NTUC and Sheng Siong are doing very well. Go and see for yourself in these supermarkets and have a feel of its differences.
