Considering the current market conditions, would it be wise to start with long-term stocks?

As a newcomer to investing, I'm evaluating the benefits of starting with a long-term portfolio. Think about solid performers like Amazon of Shell. Companies with a stable history.

I'm tempted to invest now rather than wait for a potential market dip that may not come. However, I must admit there's a bit of 'fear of missing out' driving my decision. Any seasoned advice would be appreciated. $S&P 500 Index (.SPX.US)$ $Nasdaq Composite Index (.IXIC.US)$ $Dow Jones Industrial Average (.DJI.US)$
