Coursera climbs despite Q2 loss, Growing Subscriber Base

$Coursera(COUR.US)$ jumped 44% Friday after reporting a Q2 loss Thursday night that came in lower than the previous quarter. The AI tech education company posted 155 million total users, revenue of $170M, and GAAP earnings of $0.15, but adjusted earnings of $0.09/share.
Friday morning, the firm enjoyed a maintained 'sell' opinion from an analyst at Goldman Sachs.
Still, the firm announced Q2 results that beat estimates and celebrated 2 million sign-ups for its AI learning platform. According to Yahoo Finance FactSet, the firm posted revenue of $170M, above the $164.41M analysts expected. The firm reported adjusted EPS of 9C, vs 1C expected, but a GAAP loss of 15C.
"We are excited to surpass more than two million enrollments in our generative AI catalog of courses, credentials, and hands-on projects created by the world's top technology companies and research universities," CEO Jeff Maggioncalda said.
The firm added approximately 7 million new registered learners during the quarter, which totaled 155 million. For Q3, the firm expects revenue from $171 to $175 million. For the full year 2024 the firm expects revenue from $695 to $705 million.
