$CrowdStrike (CRWD.US)$ Many people recommended buying on the dip, but this failure is so significant that many people's lives and even survival are threatened. If they are not punished, won't the market fail? I sincerely ask a question and hope to get everyone's answers: How advanced is CrowdStrike's technology? Are there other companies that can replace it?

  • Annaliza : I would suggest that you review industry analyst reporting like Gartner or IDC on Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR). crowdstrike happens to be an industry leader for that particular solution type. However the industry reports would name similar technologies that compete in that space, but to be honest other companies have their issues as well.

  • OceansWave : There are alternative products to replace CRWD. EDR and NGAV players such as BlackBerry Cylance, PANW, Carbon Black EDR etc.. the main problem with CRWD was that it forces everyone to update when it pushes, resulting in less control for patch management for customers.

Typically in a patch and release management process for mature IT, they will have the testing in their UAT and the release in batches and monitor.. it’s best to avoid a big bang approach to min any undesired impact.. unfortunately, I recall CRWD does not allow that. Carbon EDR is an On-Premises product, and being on-premises, customer have more control. The advantage of CRWD is that it is a SaaS product which customers only need to focus on admin, deployment of agents and usage.. downside is that lack of controls by customers, especially for patching..

Anyway, George Klutz is gonna face congress tomorrow and it ain’t looking good for him.. reputation is affected regardless how good they are in the cybersecurity industry..

  • OceansWave 71514680 OP : Coming from an IT Cybersecurity background, these are my views of the fiasco. IT has matured a lot over the years and how internal processes have improved over time plays a big role on how organisations select the products to use and help them be more efficient.. however the big problem is risk identification is always missed out and lacking.. this fiasco is a big wake up call for IT to review their solutions, operations and business continuity processes
