Custom 4-legged Options and margin calc

So I ran into a major issue today... I create a custom 4-leg Iron Condor strategy and checked the margin requirements on the app.  I had enough margin to cover 5 of these positions.  After placing the order, Moomoo "helped" my order by splitting it into two credit spreads and instantly doubling my required margin, forcing me into a margin call.  To top it off, when I went to close the trade (which was actually increased in value), the day trader limit kicked in and didn't treat the trades as one trade to close the position. I did a "batch close" because the option to close the IC wasn't avaible in my positions, I just had two credit spreads. Well the batch close didn't treat the closing actions as one trade but 3... it closed the short put, short call, and long call legs... But... I was left with +5 long puts on a stock that is very bullish....  Total suck... and no more trades without either losing $550 or label myself a day trader.  Now I'm labeled a PDT...

I just got done checking the mobile app and the desktop app - on the desktop app, the custom option TSLA241004P235/240/C285/290 Custom (1/1/1/1) calculates to a MM of $1000 even though only one leg should (call or put) should ever be stressed by market conditions.  On the mobile app, the same call option shows $500 of MM.   Then again - when Moomoo split this order into two credit spreads, the MM went back up to $1000 ($500 for each) but without warning.  Been a very frustrating day to say the least.  The mobile app where I purchase the position showed that, even though I entered a custom option, it recognized it as an IC.  But when the position showed up as filled, I had two credit spreads instead of 1 IC.

I'm not sure I can trust MooMoo.... but I want to.  What did I do wrong?  Any help would be appreciated.

  • condorman : if you don't have the short call under the long call, or have the short put over the long put, then it's not an iron condor.  moomoo might try to fix it then
