Cybercriminals are taking advantage of the CrowdStrike incident where an update last week caused disruptions to Windows systems around the world. Extremely Disgraceful Behavior. Support Crowd & deal

There are several fake tools in circulation that spread malware, including data wipers and remote access tools. Cybersecurity experts warn that the CrowdStrike incident is being exploited by criminals. The British National Security Center also reports that the incident has led to a wave of PHISHING attacks. Cybercriminals try to trick companies and individuals into downloading and installing legitimate-looking hotfixes or tools.
For example, emails are sent that contain, for example, a PDF with instructions for the so-called solution and a link to a zip file called 'crowdstrike.exe'. In reality, these are fake fixes and fake tools that install malware on victims' systems. For example, remote access tools and data wipers are installed and activated.
CrowdStrike also reports that criminals are trying to take advantage of the situation. The company recommends that those affected contact official CrowdStrike representatives or technical support. CEO George Kurtz also "apologizes" for the disruption. “All of CrowdStrike understands the severity and impact of the situation.” [Tweakers Europe]
Microsoft now has one  official recovery tool released to fix the CrowdStrike bug.
