Dallas Fed manufacturing business conditions survey, deficit widened in July
The Dallas Fed manufacturing business climate index weakened slightly in July, falling from 15.1 in June to -17.5, falling below the consensus -13.5.
Production: -1.3 vs. previous month: +0.7.
Equipment utilization rate: 10.0 decrease (previous month: 4.8 decrease).
New orders: -12.8 vs. previous: -1.3.
“The Dallas Federal Reserve said on Monday that “broad business sentiment continued to deteriorate in July. “The general corporate activity index deteriorated 12 points to -17.5 and the corporate outlook index to -18.4. The outlook uncertainty index rose to 30.7, the highest level since fall 2022.
However, the Dallas Federal Reserve said expectations for future manufacturing activity “have mostly risen this month.” The future production index rose 5 points to 32.0, and the future general enterprise activity index rose 9 points to 21.6, a high level since fall 2021.
