$Direxion Daily Semiconductor Bull 3x Shares ETF (SOXL.US)$ ...

Not only TSM, but also Intel have expensive equipment from ASML. Chips below 2nm are not monopolized by TSM. I believe that if Intel and AMD merge, the former Intel manufacturing division focuses on factories, and development combines the intelligence of both companies, it is not impossible to catch up with Nvidia.
I think qualcomm merging with arm would be more threatening than acquiring intel, instead of fighting with intel.

  • KON -K : Actually, even Nvidia's Blackwell seems to have a 4nm process. So far, an exposure machine from one generation ago is OK for generative AI. When I heard this, there was quite a bit of agreement as to why only ASML had dropped orders and other semiconductor manufacturing equipment manufacturers didn't. Nvidia's strength still seems to be design power.

  • ペイちゃん : The big difference between TSMC and Intel. Samsung is the yield of the previous process. Since this isn't going up, it's not easy to get on a profit basis. It's not easy to create a system to raise yields overnight.

  • 181143412 OP : Thanks for commenting.
It was also in the news, but I think it would be better to increase the production ratio of advanced semiconductors in the US in order to reduce risk, but Intel is still not in a state where the latest exposure equipment can be operated at full capacity.

  • 戒律 : The reason why orders for ASML declined is that demand declined sharply after taking in ahead demand from China, which accounts for close to 50% of sales. The background is the US semiconductor regulation reading and China's economic slowdown.
When considering a business called manufacturing outsourcing, it is necessary to do it in an area where wages are low, and considering national characteristics, I don't think Americans seriously go to factories and work every day, so I think the direction of outsourcing Intel manufacturing is difficult, even with subsidies. As Pei said, that country isn't really suited to the manufacturing industry.
In the first place, it's better to think about mergers and other things by layer, so is there any point in starting a vertically integrated business now? I also feel like that.

  • 181143412 OP : Thank you for your comments. It's educational. I used to think it's better to do everything if you have a factory in a single company, but considering the high wages and national character of the usa, it's difficult. When thinking about the Taiwan Strait Crisis, relying too much is also a concern, but if that happens, it's not just about semiconductors.
