Dow Jones notches new record high; U.S. indices post third consecutive week of gains

On Friday, U.S. equities posted a mixed finish as August personal consumption expenditures (PCE) came in within expectations, increasing by 0.1%. Cumulatively for the week, major U.S. indices closed higher, for a third consecutive week. The Dow Jones notched in its third record high on Friday, climbing over 100 points to close off the week 0.6% higher. Meanwhile, tech stocks fell on Friday, with Amazon and Nvidia losing 2.0%, weighing on the S&P 500 and Nasdaq-100. The S&P 500 slipped 0.1% but gained 0.6% for the week, while the Nasdaq-100 lost 0.5% but closed out the week 1.1% higher.
