Egypt asks airlines to avoid Iranian airspace for 3 hours on Thursday
Egypt has instructed all airlines to avoid Iranian airspace for 3 hours starting Thursday morning.
According to NOTAM (Notice to Air Missions), which is a safety notice provided to pilots on Wednesday, this instruction is effective from 01:00 GMT to 04:00 GMT. As for the reason this notification was issued, it was reported that the Iranian authorities cited “military exercises” as the reason for the request.
“All Egyptian airlines must not fly over Tehran (flight information region) FIR. A notification regarding the 3-hour flight time was issued, saying, “No flight plans to fly over Tehran (flight information region) are permitted.”
Many airlines have rescheduled their schedules to avoid airspace between Iran and Lebanon, and have cancelled flights to Israel and Lebanon.
On Sunday, Jordanian authorities asked all airlines that land at Jordanian airports to carry 45 minutes of spare fuel.
