Major US pharmaceutical company Eli Lilly announced on the 2nd that it will invest $4.5 billion to build a new research and development site in the state of Indiana, USA. With this, the total investment announced for the US market since 2020 will exceed $23 billion.
The new base, Lilly Medicine Foundry, will focus on developing new methods for pharmaceutical manufacturing and expanding the production of investigational drugs. They plan to hire 400 full-time employees including engineers, scientists, and research technicians, and aim to start operations by the end of 2027.
CEO David Ricks stated in an interview with CNBC that this base has the potential to increase the company's production capacity by 400%.
