EU foreign minister Josep Borrell suggested the possibility of sanctions against Israeli ministers accused of violating international law.

Speaking to the press in Brussels, Foreign Minister Borrell has stated that the process of asking EU member states whether they consider it appropriate to start including Israeli ministers who are spreading unacceptable messages of hatred towards the Palestinian people and making proposals clearly contrary to international law on a sanctions list has been initiated.

Borrell's statement came after Deputy Prime Minister Petra De Sutter of Belgium expressed full support for sanctions against the extreme right-wing Israeli ministers Itamar Ben Gvir and Bezalel Smotrich, who are demanding the expulsion and resettlement of Palestinians from Gaza.
