EU points out that Meta's “pay or consent” model violates huge tech regulations

The European Union (EU) European Commission expressed a preliminary opinion on the 1st that the “fee or consent” model for the Meta Platforms service that operates Facebook violates the EU Digital Market Law (DMA), which regulates giant tech companies.
Meta introduced a paid service without ads on Facebook and Instagram in Europe in November last year. It was decided that users who agreed to collect personal information could receive a free service. The European Commission found that choosing between these two was a violation of the DMA.
