$ASML Holding (ASML.US)$ Photonic micro-chips can soon save the entire world a lot of money and energy. With an enormous investment of millions, the European Union wants to remain a leader in this new photonics technology. The Netherlands is also investing a lot of money in the budding industry, in the hope that a second chip machine maker such as ASML will emerge. The photonic chips transmit information via light instead of electrons.
The European Union is investing "380 million euros" in the project. Of this, 133 million euros is for two Dutch pilot plants. The technical universities of Eindhoven and Twente and the knowledge institute TNO will set up the new test production lines. More than a hundred million euros have previously been invested in the company.
Thanks to photonic chips, it will be possible in the future to build cheaper, faster and energy-efficient devices. These make it possible to diagnose diseases earlier. Safe self-driving vehicles are also possible. This could open the door to a new European industry and a huge range of new applications.
Usually the United States take the commercial credit for new technology technologies. This time the intention is "to keep" the entire production process for photonic chips, from the laboratory to the production hall, in Europe.
The project can start in mid-2025, reports Minister Dirk Beljaarts of Economic Affairs. "This is good news. For the Dutch innovation climate as a whole and for the SME companies involved that are working hard on this," the minister said.

Money Thrill OP : Not at all, but i am in contact several people and follow this industry very closely because I want to know what there are doing. There is a great difference and the winners takes it all in future. NOT ONLY Nivdia.
First, be sure $ASML Holding (ASML.US)$ is one them . Also MU , i know they have renewed just their contract with imec, my neighbours, for 3 years. Photo Bart Onsio, Portfolio manager for new battery but not in production
Space Dust Money Thrill OP : does the Intel chips announced that have to do with light hold any bearing with that of which you speak? ( I know next to nothing about this stuff and am trying to put together a better mental picture

Money Thrill OP : Intel works also together with imec ... but everything there is secretly. Also Nvidia, TSMC, Samsung.
The person holds a new battery in his hand and you can see 3 holes he put in with a nail and the battery is still working. I don't know for which company was this research? Can be for Tesla ? Battery gives double range. Tesla use also solid-state batterys but this a a new evolution, a step higher.
There are not at all any restrictions for Imec ... impossible
Money Thrill OP : This is research lithography machine in laboratory for asml, So you have an idea how sophisticated it is. Difficult to understand for people what's happenings inside the machines
