European Morning News, Arm versus Qualcomm? Not a problem or .. ? ( also from Tweakers)
$Arm Holdings (ARM.US)$ The lawsuit between $Qualcomm (QCOM.US)$ and Arm started on Monday, December 16, in a court in Delaware, US. According to Arm, Qualcomm is guilty of license infringement. It is not yet clear when a verdict from the jury and judge will take place.
Arm sued Qualcomm in 2022 over alleged license infringement. According to Arm, after acquiring the Nuvia company, Qualcomm unfairly used licensing agreements that Arm had with Nuvia. Qualcomm allegedly took over Nuvia's licenses without Arm's permission.
That is why the plaintiff wants the chip company to destroy certain Nuvia designs and effectively stop production of certain chips. According to Reuters, Arm is "NOT ASKING" for compensation for the license infringement.

Arm "does wants ONLY to be compensated" for trademark infringement and in practice Qualcomm would have to enter into a new licensing agreement to continue producing certain chips. It is estimated that the company currently " ... pays $300 million annually..." for Arm licenses.
Conclusion: .. if I look at the discussion rationally, there cannot be a major problem since Qualcomm pays the agreed license annually! ![]()

Money Thrill OP : Fundamentally, when you take over a company, you also, logically, take over the " RIGHTS " . This leaves Arm with little feet to stand on. It just wants more money for its licenses, for which it already receives money. Not a good starting point for Arm. Agree sooner, rather than always going to court ...![undefined [undefined]](https://static.moomoo.com/nnq/emoji/static/image/default/default-black.png?imageMogr2/thumbnail/36x36)
