Eurozone retail sales rise less than expected
Retail sales in the Eurozone showed a slight increase of 0.1% from the previous month in 2024/5, recovered from an upward revised 0.2% decrease in April, and exceeded the forecast of a 0.2% increase.
Sales of food, beverages, and tobacco increased 0.7% from a 0.9% decrease, and sales of automobile fuels increased 0.4% from a 0.7% decrease.
Meanwhile, sales of non-food products changed from a 0.5% increase to a 0.2% decrease.
Compared to the previous year, retail sales increased slightly from a 0.6% increase in April to a 0.3% increase.
